Director of Engineering

SUMMARY

SIFCO Industries, Inc., a premier publicly held supplier to the aerospace industry located in Cleveland, OH, seeks a qualified professional to join our Forge Division team as Director of Engineering. This is a senior staff position, reporting directly to the General Manager of the Company's largest business unit. This position is responsible for all the activities of the Engineering department. Activities include Design Engineering, Product/Process Development, cost estimation and cost reduction/cost of poor quality improvement projects. The qualified candidate is also responsible for engineering support of manufacturing departments and customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•Responsible for NPI (New Product Introduction) Program to support annual and long-range business plans

•Manage DIAMOND (Design Intent and Methods of New Dies) Process

•Manage Tooling and Process Design functions included 3-D CAD Die Design and Forging Simulation

•Manage Cost Estimation Process with responsibility for quote accuracy and turnaround time

•Engage in and manage Customer Technical relations

•Responsible for Engineering Contract Review

•Ownership of process redesign on production programs to reduce cost of poor quality and overall product costs and support annual business plans

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises employees in the Engineering Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

•BS in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent required

•5+ years’ experience in Engineering Management

•Significant Metals Processing industry and tooling design experience required

•Forging industry experience desired but not required

•Forging simulation experience strongly preferred

•Facilities Engineering experience preferred

SPECIAL SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

•Familiarity with 3D CAD and tooling design required; prefer CATIA V5 or Creo (Pro-Engineer)

•Familiarity with Forging simulation preferred (DEFORM 2D/3D)

•Familiarity with SAP

•Good communication skills with all levels of organization

•Proven leadership ability as a change agent

•Strong program management ability
